“Not only did the gallery grant career-related experiences, it opened a door to a social network. The gallery is the meeting place and cornerstone for artists in the community. It has been an invaluable reference when venturing outside of the community, allowing for other artists and institutions to understand who I am and where I come from.”

JR Hunter, Artist

SG Print Studio: Back on Track

The Nicholas Novak Print Studio honours an exceptional individual and artist, whose contributions from 1975 until his death 1980, left an indelible mark on Station Gallery. Our 375 square foot (114.3 m²) Print Studio is housed in a reconditioned railcar, which has been converted into a full-functioning workshop equipped with print presses.

Following another long winter, our print studio is now open! For more detail on guidelines and information about the print studio and equipment usage, check out the link below:

By the way, that's Nick Novak in the print studio, circa 1978!

Exhibition Proposal Tips

Station Gallery exhibitions are planned 1 – 2 years in advance.  You can submit a proposal at any time to the attention of the Gallery Curator.

Your proposals should include: A cover letter; a specific written proposal for an exhibition; slides or disk of electronic images (about 15 images) a CV or resume detailing artistic accomplishments (exhibitions, grants, reviews, etc.) and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for materials to be returned.

You can expect a response within  4 and 6 months.

SG's Curator, Olex Wlasenko offers some advice in his biweekly blog - Curator by Day.

Artist-Educator Foundations Course

The Royal Conservatory, with the support of the Ontario Arts Council (OAC), is pleased to offer the Artist-Educator Foundations Course for artists who are already engaged in arts education, and for those who would like to learn more about arts education. This 30-hour course offers artists a window into working in schools and/or in community settings through hands-on, activity-based exploration.

The Ontario Arts Council is sponsoring this course so that Ontario artists can enroll at a registration fee of $60.
